From Alabama to the top of the LOWLIFE Battle Car vs. Car bracket, @Fk8_baddie and her 2019 Honda Civic Type R proved that standing out in a platform known for performance-focused builds is more than possible.

After surviving round after round — including a final battle against one of her own best friends — the community made its decision.

@Fk8_baddie is your Battle Car vs. Car Champion. 🏆

And if there’s one thing you need to know before getting into this build:

IT’S PAINT, NOT WRAP. 🗣️

BUILT TO BE DIFFERENT

Cars have been part of @Fk8_baddie’s life since she was 16, but about three years ago she found herself diving back into the scene.

As a longtime Honda lover, finding the FK8 Type R online immediately caught her attention.

“I saw it online and fell in love.”
She purchased the 2019 Civic Type R two years ago. At the time, it was mostly stock and sitting on a set of fake TEs.

That didn’t last long.

The first real modification was a carbon-fiber hood, kicking off what would become roughly a year and a half of transforming the Type R into the car you see today.
While many FK8 builds lean heavily into the Type R’s track heritage, she wanted hers to go in a completely different direction.

“Most Type Rs are track inspired and kinda copy-paste builds, so I wanted to be different.”

Mission accomplished.

THE SETUP

The Type R now sits on 18x10.5 GMR Versus wheels, finished in custom paint and wrapped in 215/35 tires.
Getting the stance right comes courtesy of FlyyAir Suspension paired with Air Lift management, giving the FK8 its aggressive aired-out presence.

And this Type R isn’t only about appearance.

Performance upgrades include a Perrin intercooler, Rev6 downpipe, Takeda exhaust, PLM inlet, and a Hondata tune.
CARBON, CUSTOM PAINT & DETAILS EVERYWHERE

The exterior is where the build really separates itself from the crowd.

The Type R features a Seibon carbon-fiber hood, Skywalker carbon-fiber widebody fenders, carbon-fiber fender vents, rear fender flare extensions, carbon-fiber door handles, APR carbon-fiber wing, full aero splitter kit, rear diffuser, titanium hardware, RGB taillights, and a MacLifter kit.

Then there are her favorite pieces on the entire car: the custom carbon-fiber headlights with custom pods.

Getting everything to work together wasn’t easy, either.

When asked which modification caused the biggest headache, the first answer was simple:

“EVERYTHING. 🫢”

But if she had to choose one, it would be the fenders. They required heavy modification just to get them fitting correctly.

And underneath all of those details is one of the biggest talking points of the build — its custom finish by Slik Werks.

People constantly ask about the “wrap.”

There’s just one problem…

It isn’t wrapped. It’s paint.

THE DETAILS CONTINUE INSIDE

The customization doesn’t stop when the doors open.

Inside, you’ll find black Alcantara Type R seat covers, a Works Bell Rapfix GTC pop-up steering system, custom relocation bracket, Alcantara aftermarket steering wheel, and custom Air Lift mount.

The rear received just as much attention, with 280 Customs handling the full custom trunk setup and starlight installation.

It’s a build where nearly every area has been touched, modified, or personalized.
MORE THAN A CAR

Like many great builds, the Type R has become about much more than modifications.

@Fk8_baddie has worked on the car herself, with her husband, Corey Smothers, playing a huge role in helping bring her ideas to life.

“My biggest helper is definitely my husband.”

Over the process, the car has also become part of her identity and introduced her to people and experiences she otherwise may never have had.

“I’ve definitely made it my personality. I’ve met the most incredible people and had some of my favorite memories in it.”

Not every memory has been glamorous, though.

Her favorite might actually be one of the most embarrassing.

“Probably the time I jumped a curb in front of about 10 guys. It was hella embarrassing and they’ll never let me live it down, but now it’s just a good memory because nothing broke. 😂”

Sometimes the best car stories are the ones you weren’t planning on making.

THE ROAD TO THE BATTLE CAR VS. CAR CHAMPIONSHIP 🏆

Interestingly enough, @Fk8_baddie entered LOWLIFE’s Battle Car vs. Car after seeing her best friend share that he was competing.

From there, what started as another competition turned into a run all the way to the finals.

Did she expect that?

Absolutely not.

“No! I thought I lost twice. 😂”

Then came the final round — and waiting on the other side was one of her best friends.

Her motivation became pretty simple:

“Ain’t no way I’m letting him brag about beating me. 😂”

The votes came in.

The LOWLIFE community chose its winner.

And @Fk8_baddie’s Type R officially became the Battle Car vs. Car Champion.

Her reaction to knowing the community voted her build #1?

“They have excellent taste. 🫶”

And to everyone who voted:

“Thank you so much, and I’m sorry for blowing up your DMs. 🙏”

WHAT’S NEXT?

Is the Type R finished?

If you’re a car enthusiast, you probably already know the answer.

“I don’t think any car enthusiast ‘finishes’ a build. There’s always more to add or change!”

Next on the list is removing the current splitter setup and replacing it with a Mugen lip kit.

But despite all the modifications, trophies and attention, the ultimate vision for the car is surprisingly simple:

“To smile every time I look at it.”

And really, that’s what building cars is supposed to be about.

You’ll be able to catch @Fk8_baddie and the championship-winning Type R as a few shows this season.

SHOUTOUTS 🫶
